(working title — name can evolve)
Why This Drill Exists
Tilt is not a moral failure.
It is not a lack of discipline.
It is a physiological state shift that, once active, biases perception and accelerates behavior.
When tilt appears, the goal is no longer optimization or improvement.
The goal becomes damage containment.
This drill exists to remove decision-making after tilt is detected and replace it with a predefined sequence of actions that protect capital, confidence, and system integrity.
The Core Premise
When tilt is present:
- Judgment is unreliable
- Self-assessment is compromised
- “One more trade” thinking becomes persuasive
At that point, choice must be removed, not refined.
This drill is not about fighting tilt.
It is about exiting the state safely.
What This Drill Governs
This drill governs behavior after tilt has already appeared.
It does not:
- prevent tilt (that belongs to Agency Cultivation)
- analyze causes (that belongs to review)
- rehabilitate mindset (that belongs to recovery)
It answers one question only:
What happens immediately when tilt is detected?
Tilt Detection (Trigger Conditions)
This drill activates when any of the following are observed:
- urge to “get it back”
- emotional charge above baseline that does not dissipate
- rule justification or reinterpretation
- compulsive scanning or clicking
- rising bodily agitation (tight chest, jaw, shallow breath)
- shortened patience thresholds
- internal dialogue that feels urgent, defensive, or combative
The trigger is recognition, not certainty.
If tilt is suspected, the drill applies.
The Response Sequence (Conceptual)
Once tilt is detected, behavior follows a non-negotiable sequence:
- Immediate Stand-Down
- No new trades
- No position adjustments beyond risk reduction
- No “just one more”
- Physiological Discharge
- Stand up
- Move the body
- Breathe
- Interrupt the stress loop physically, not cognitively
- Time-Based Separation
- A fixed minimum cooldown window
- Time chosen before tilt ever appears
- No evaluation during this period
- Reassessment Gate
- After the cooldown, ask:
- Has emotional charge returned to baseline?
- Is curiosity present instead of urgency?
- If no → the session ends
- Session Termination (If Required)
- Ending the session is a successful execution of the drill
- It is not failure
- It is system preservation
Why This Must Be a Drill
If this response is not drilled, it will not be followed.
Tilt convinces you that:
- this time is different
- stepping away is overreacting
- you can handle it
Predefining the response removes that negotiation.
This drill ensures that the worst moments are the most structured.
How This Integrates With the System
- Stop 0 defines agency and interruption
- Stop 3 defines regulation and early detection
- This drill defines containment once regulation fails
- Stop 7 integrates it through repetition and review
Together, they close the loop:
Prevent → Detect → Contain → Review → Reinforce
What This Drill Is Not
This drill is not:
- a punishment
- a cooling-off suggestion
- a motivational reset
- a productivity hack
It is an emergency protocol for psychological risk.
Why This Matters
Most traders don’t blow up because they don’t see tilt.
They blow up because nothing tells them what to do once they see it.
This drill removes that ambiguity.
High-Level Closing Note
Tilt does not require insight.
It requires exit discipline.
This drill turns tilt from a spiral into a structured endpoint.
That alone can save months — sometimes years — of damage.
