Variants and Entry Archetypes
This section describes how Pullback in Strong Trend most commonly appears in live markets. These are not separate strategies. They are recurring expressions of the same intent. Each archetype answers one question only:
Is this a pause in strength, or is control actually changing?
1. Shallow Pullback
Price pauses briefly after an impulse and retraces only modestly before stalling. Counter-pressure is light and short-lived. Look for:
- Small retracement relative to the prior impulse
- Overlapping or slowing counter-movement
- Quick stabilization near recent structure
Continuation remains favored when the pause resolves without expansion against the trend.
2. Deep Pullback
Price retraces more meaningfully into prior structure while remaining orderly. The pullback takes time but does not accelerate against the trend. Look for:
- Deeper retracement with controlled tempo
- Structure holds despite increased overlap
- Counter-pressure lacks initiative
This expression reflects testing, not reversal. Continuation depends on strength reappearing at the boundary.
3. Compressed Pause
Price stops progressing and begins to coil. Range tightens and activity compresses without meaningful displacement in either direction. Look for:
- Reduced volatility and narrowing range
- Balanced trade without directional expansion
- Holding above or below key structure
Continuation remains likely if compression resolves in the direction of the trend.
4. Fast Reclaim
Price briefly moves against the trend, then snaps back quickly and reclaims the prior area with urgency. Look for:
- Sharp but short counter-move
- Immediate rejection and reclaim
- Acceleration back in trend direction
This expression often signals failed counter-pressure and rapid resumption of control.
How to Use These Archetypes
These archetypes exist to support recognition. The strategy remains the same across all expressions. If the move behaves like a pause, continuation is favored. If the pause transforms into expansion against the trend, the strategy disengages.

Summary
Pullback in Strong Trend expresses itself through pauses that hold structure. Whether the pause is shallow, deep, compressed, or quickly reclaimed, the defining feature remains control. When strength returns, continuation is active. When control gives way, the trade disappears.
