3.7. Ride-Along

What It Looks Like to Live This Stop
You sit down feeling fine. Not amped. Not nervous. Just normal. The market opens. First twenty minutes are clean. You’re reading well. Maybe you take a trade. Maybe you don’t. Either way, nothing’s off.
Then something subtle happens.
You miss an entry. Not a disaster. Just a miss. You tell yourself it’s no big deal. And it isn’t. But now you notice you’re leaning forward a bit more. Scanning faster. Wanting the next one a little more than before.
This is where Stop 3 shows up.
You don’t lecture yourself. You don’t psychoanalyze it. You just notice: something shifted.
That’s State Awareness.
A few minutes later, you see a setup that’s… close. Not wrong. Not clean either. Normally you’d pass. Today you’re tempted. That’s discipline erosion. You pause. Not a long pause. Just enough to break the loop. Hands off the mouse. Feet flat on the floor. Breath slows. That’s regulation. You flatten a small position early because clarity dipped. No anger. No regret. Just data.
Later, boredom creeps in. The market goes quiet. You feel that itch to do something. You recognize it instantly now. You don’t fight it. You stand up and walk away.
Session ends earlier than planned. No fireworks. No PnL screenshot. Later that day, you write one line: “Boredom after first hour → urge to force trades.” No story. No judgment. That’s accountability. Nothing dramatic happened today. And that’s the point.
This is what Stop 3 looks like when it’s working.
You don’t feel powerful. You don’t feel disciplined. You just don’t do stupid things anymore. And over time, that changes everything.
